Click & Frame is an Austin-based creative production and storytelling company working with nonprofits, organizations, artists, and mission-driven teams in Texas and beyond.

We make documentaries, fundraising and impact films, leadership interviews, event videos, artist portraits, and other story-driven work.

For us, every project starts with understanding who we are working with, what they are trying to say, and who they need to reach. We spend time learning about the people behind the story before deciding how it should be filmed, written, or shared.

Our work can also go beyond video. Depending on the project, we help with branding, websites, marketing, CRM, automation, and other digital tools so the story does not end when the film is finished.

Some projects are about raising money. Some are about building trust, explaining an idea, documenting a moment, or helping people understand something differently. The approach changes from project to project, but the starting point is usually the same: find the story that matters and tell it well.

THE TEAM

Mani Mehrvarz, Ph.D.

Founder & Executive Director

  • Mani Mehrvarz is a filmmaker, producer, and founder of Click & Frame, with more than a decade of experience across film, nonprofit storytelling, art, media, and technology.

    His work often centers on subjects that require time, trust, and a willingness to stay with a story beyond the surface. Over the years, he has worked with nonprofits, artists, community organizations, and individuals on projects exploring public health, addiction, immigration, aging, art, and community life.

    Mani holds a Ph.D. in Media Study from the University at Buffalo and has taught filmmaking and media at both the University at Buffalo and NYU. Before focusing full-time on Click & Frame, he served as CTO and Creative Director at CAO of WNY, Inc., one of the largest community-based nonprofit organizations in Western New York.

    At CAO, his work extended well beyond filmmaking. He helped modernize the organization’s technology and communication infrastructure while leading film productions, branding, digital projects, and public-facing campaigns. This experience shaped the way he approaches creative work today: not simply as content, but as part of a larger system of communication, engagement, and organizational growth.

    Outside of Click & Frame, Mani writes about film, media, and filmmaking. His work has been presented internationally, and he has collaborated with filmmakers, artists, and creative communities across different cultural settings. He is also actively involved in the independent film community, both in Austin and through connections with filmmakers across the United States.

    Across these experiences, he remains most interested in the space where personal stories, larger systems, and everyday life meet.

    That is often where Mani starts looking for the story.

Maryam Muliaee, Ph.D.

Executive Producer & Art Director

  • Maryam Muliaee is a multimedia artist, researcher, and filmmaker whose work has moved between video, sound, image, experimental animation, installation, and documentary for nearly two decades.

    She holds a Ph.D. in Media Study from the University at Buffalo and later continued her research as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her academic work has focused on feminist media archaeology and the ways images, technologies, and media systems carry meaning, change over time, and sometimes fail in unexpected ways.

    Maryam has taught film, media, and art at the University at Buffalo and the University of Colorado Boulder. She is also the editor of MAST: The Journal of Media Art Study and Theory, where she has worked with artists and scholars from different parts of the world and helped develop conversations around media, art, and research.

    Her own artistic practice has always remained important to her. Over the years, Maryam has created installations, experimental films, animations, soundwalks, audiovisual performances, and documentary projects. Her work has appeared in more than fifty exhibitions and festivals internationally, including presentations in Tokyo, London, Seoul, Berlin, Warsaw, Florence, Brussels, Buenos Aires, New York, and Tehran.

    Some of her projects also explore what happens when film moves beyond the screen. In In This House, commissioned by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, she created a locative media project that used video, mobile technology, performance, and physical space to change the way visitors experienced an exhibition.

    Maryam has worked with Click & Frame for over a decade. Her role goes far beyond choosing how something should look. She works with the team from the early stages of a project, thinking through visual language, atmosphere, locations, composition, and how the different parts of a story should live together.

    Her background as an artist also gives her a different way of looking at documentary work. She pays attention to things that can easily be overlooked: the relationship between a person and a space, the objects around them, gestures, textures, silence, and the visual details that can quietly carry part of the story.

    At Click & Frame, that perspective helps keep the work from falling into a familiar visual formula. Each project has to find its own language, and Maryam helps us find it.
